Perhaps the best bridge columns ever written were written by Victor Mollo under the titles of Bridge in the Menagerie and Bridge in the Fifth Dimension. Victor's characters were always entertaining, mostly endearing, and frequently educational. Victor's untimely passing in 1987 was a blow to the bridge world.
Now some of you may argue that Alan Truscott wrote a better technical column for the New York Times. I can't disagree, but in my opinion, Alan's columns were not nearly as much fun to read as Victor's.
One of Victor's characters, Rueful Rabbit, had a childhood cousin who lives in The Wildwoods, located in Penn Valley, California. His cousin's name is John Rabbit -- known to all his friends and family as "JR". A few of JR's exploits have been published in the American Bridge Teacher's Association Quarterly, but I have been looking for a venue that would allow a wider sharing of the happenings in The Wildwoods -- perhaps someday to be published as Bridge in the Wildwoods.
